Jessica Hill - Chair of Governors
As a parent of 2 students currently at the college Jessica brings a parents prospective to college life and a full awareness of impacts college decisions have on both students and parents. Jessica believes the best way to support change and make improvements in anything is to roll up your sleeves and get involved.
Having worked for the John Lewis Partnership for over 25 years at various levels has given Jessica many skills including the confidence to talk to all levels, managing up and down as well as dealing with confidential requests. Through this experience Jessica has learnt not to shy away from those with power and will ask challenging questions if and where needed. Jessica's ultimate aim is for the the college to be successful for all the students and the Okehampton community it serves.
Sophia Clist
Sophia is an artist and theatre designer and makes participatory and interactive work for all ages. She puts great value in the power of the expressive arts to enhance learning across the curriculum and to help young people’s confidence to grow, whatever their interests and abilities. Whether taking part or watching or listening, experiencing art enhances life and learning for everyone.
Sophia’s two sons were students at Okehampton College. She has been a governor for four years and is SEND lead.
Keish Ann Down
Keisha‑Ann brings over 25 years of experience working across education, youth development and leadership coaching and training in the UK and internationally. As a professionally accredited Master Coach, she partners with schools, trusts, and community organisations to deliver coaching and development programmes that support staff wellbeing, inclusive leadership and student outcomes. She currently serves as Behaviour and Community Co‑Lead on the Local Stakeholder Board for Okehampton College and is committed to ensuring every young person has access to opportunities that help them thrive both in and out of the classroom.
Keisha‑Ann’s background includes teaching, training, designing behaviour and leadership interventions and holding governance roles in both the education and sports sectors. She has worked with primary, secondary and specialist settings, is passionate about helping schools build inclusive, values-led environments that reflect the communities they serve.
Stephanie Grace
Stephanie has been working at Okehampton College for 3 years, having completed her ECT in 2024/25. During her second-year, Stephanie became the Curriculum Lead of History and Politics and loves spreading the joy of history throughout Key Stage 3, 4 and 5. Stephanie enjoys helping students begin their journey through education and, for some, watch a love for history grow and develop over time. Stephanie moved to Okehampton in 2023 with her husband, drawn to Devon by the beauty of Dartmoor, after previously living in Bristol.
Graham Marwood
Graham has lived in the area for 5 years, moving here on retirement from Metropolitan Police. Graham has been a Governor at Okehampton for one year however has previous experience having been a Parent and Community Governor previously. Graham is currently the Safeguarding Governor for the school.
Kate Scrivener
Kate taught as a primary teacher for 12 years. During this time, she was also staff governor. After leaving teaching to run her own business while her four children were small, she became a governor for her local primary school. This school was part of a federation of three primaries and one secondary, which allowed Kate to develop her knowledge of secondary schools as well as primary. After a few years of governance, she became Co chair and was involved in the process of the School becoming the Trust it is now. After a short break from governance Kate has returned as a governor for Okehampton College, where two of her children attend and she now works.
As a Governor Kate has an interest in listening to stakeholder voice and encourages staff pupils and parents to feedback where ever possible. She enjoys travel and is Vice Captain for her Ladies softball cricket team.
